My Other Projects
So what do I do when I'm not doing tech support?
Medieval Re-enactment
This is a new one to me - I still have a lot to learn! It's been fantastic to find a hobby that uses my needlework skills, though - everything is handmade.
I've been having a lot of fun as well as challenges, dressing the part and re-enacting village life. It can be pretty in tents (sorry).
I have been a Director with Autistic UK since 2020. I have been able to use my training skills here, as well as my IT / admin skills, and have been involved in the following:
-
Applying for grant funding
-
Peer Support (online)
-
Arranging and delivering training around the autistic experience, to professionals in Health and Social Care, as well as the voluntary sector and the private sector
Disability awareness & acceptance
I wanted to learn Sign Language since working with Deaf social workers when I was with the Council (in the mid 2000's). I got the chance to learn online in lockdown and am now taking Level 2 at a face-to-face class, with the same tutor I started with on Zoom.
I enjoy the course and it has enabled me to be confident enough in my signing to add the "I'm learning BSL" shape above, to my adverts. I now have a few Deaf customers who have become friends and who have introduced me to the Deaf community in Conwy.
